Welcome to the Vegetarian Society of DC
The Vegetarian Society of the District of
Columbia (VSDC) aims to promote the benefits of
vegetarianism through educational and social activities throughout
the Washington DC metropolitan area, including
Maryland and northern Virginia. Founded in 1927,
we are the nation's oldest continuously-operating
vegetarian society. We welcome people wherever
they are on the path toward an all plant-based
diet.
Our events are open
to all, but we encourage you to join us to support
vegetarian living in the Washington region.
Members receive our quarterly newsletter and get
discounts at many area restaurants and other
businesses through our VSDC GreenRewards™ program.
Consider our speakers'
bureau if you need someone to speak about
vegetarianism at an event.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, VSDC is
governed by an all-volunteer, elected Board of Directors.
Additional volunteers
perform much of the work in VSDC.
Our office is now located in Herndon, VA. We
don't have regular hours, so any meeting needs to
be arranged in advance. Please use our post office box for
all normal correspondence.
We have relationships with other vegetarian
organizations, but are independent of
them.
