The VSDC Life-Affirming Thanksgiving is an annual event that brings together vegetarians and non-vegetarians to enjoy compassionate and healthy food and a wonderful social setting.

Celebrate Thanksgiving Day with hundreds of people enjoying a gourmet vegan feast at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Bethesda, MD. The programming includes exciting door prizes, a silent auction fundraiser, guest speaker, exhibitors, and a live musical act following lunch. This has been a very successful event for years so we feel confident that you will leave pleased again this year! The 2012 Thanksgiving event set a record attendance of more than 300 people.

We are excited that our guest speaker for this year's event will be Elizabeth Kucinich.

DONATIONS

The Washington Humane Society has been the DC area’s leading voice of compassion for pets and wildlife since 1870 -- yes, 1870! WHS provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through monetary and in-kind donations. VSDC will accept donations from the Washington Humane Society's wish list at our Thanksgiving event.

So Others May Eat
So Others May Eat (SOME) is a community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. They meet the immediate daily needs of the people they serve with food, clothing, and health care, in addition to services to help break the cycle of homelessness. VSDC will be collecting nonperishable vegan food items for SOME’s food bank. Please note that SOME requests that food donations be nonperishable and as healthy as possible. They cannot accept canned soups that are not labeled low-fat, low-sodium.
