Policies

The Veg Society of DC (VSDC) promotes an environment where members treat each other with dignity, respect, and kindness. Discrimination and harassment of any kind (verbal or nonverbal, online or in-person), including sexual, are not tolerated. Discrimination is the differential treatment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other factor that is legislatively protected. Harassment is unwelcome conduct against a person that makes an individual feel threatened, publicly humiliated, or intimidated. It may include unwelcome jokes, negative stereotyping, slurs, and threatening acts. Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct that create an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment. VSDC encourages anyone who feels they have been the target of harassment or discrimination to bring the subject to the immediate attention of the board (you can email confidentially to “board@vsdc.org”). VSDC takes allegations very seriously and will investigate them as promptly as possible. The board will consider whether corrective action is merited. This may include warnings, written or verbal reprimand, and/or dismissals from the group. We prohibit retaliation against any party involved.
