VSDC mourns the sudden and devastating loss of our dear board member Carmen Gillmore Scott who passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
Carmen was a passionate and dedicated vegan for 15 years and an integral part of the VSDC family. She designed and edited our newsletters and other publications, was a coordinator of the VSDC African American Networking Group, co-managed our Meetup group and served on our Thanksgiving Planning Committee, but most of all, she was a treasured friend and colleague.
To honor her memory, VSDC has established the Veg Society of DC Carmen Gillmore Scott Volunteer of the Year Award to be presented annually to a VSDC member who embodies Carmen's spirit of dedication and service to the Veg Society of DC.
We send her family and friends our deepest condolences. We will miss her beyond words.
