Please see our note below and the message we sent via meetup to all registered attendees** \nVSDC is excited to announce that we are planning a trio of upcoming online cooking classes with Dr. Ruby Lathon\, as part of our Eating Vegan series. The 1st online vegan cooking demonstration is on Saturday\, November 13th\, from 2 to 4 pm.Please sign up early so we can plan for a spectacular event. \nDr. Ruby is an award-winning engineer turned certified holistic plant-based nutritionist and wellness consultant after her own journey battling cancer. As a chef\, she is now offering prepared delicious organic vegan food through her meal delivery service and pop-ups in the DMV area and Albuquerque (www.RubyRedsVegan.com) – also a VSDC Green Rewards member. She will be guiding us in making three of her fabulous fall recipes\, then answering our questions. The first class is Nov. 13th\, when Ruby will show us how to make mushroom stroganoff. (For later classes\, right on time for the holidays\, we’ll bake a classic sweet potato pie with coconut cream on Dec. 11th. And while we’re exercising our New Year’s resolutions\, Ruby will demo string bean casserole on Jan. 15th.) \nThe recipe for this class will be sent by Thu Nov 11 so you can prepare and cook along if you like. The link to the zoom session will be included as well. \nThe fee for this class is only $20 per person (and full VSDC members will get a bonus – we will add 3 months to your membership!). DESCRIPTION:Join us for a challenging and rewarding hike in Harpers Ferry National Historical Park! Maryland Heights is located 70 mi\, or about an hour’s drive\, from Washington DC. Rich in civil war history\, this hike rewards the adventurous with unparalleled views of the charming town of Harpers Ferry and the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers. \nExpect a relatively speedy pace\, rocky and uneven terrain and a steep elevation gain of 1\,600 ft. You should be able to hike uphill without break for at least an hour\, as well as comfortably scramble over rocks and negotiate uneven surfaces. Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and appropriate clothing. \nThis event is for those who are fully vaccinated only. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for VSDC’s third bike ride in Columbia\, MD with a pit stop at Brewing Good (the vegan coffee shop) and optional post bike lunch at Great Sage. We will start at Elkhorn Branch Trail towards Lake Elkhorn. From the lake\, we will take Patuxent Branch Trail to Savage Mill. We will have a pit stop at Brewing Good (at Savage Mill) for a cup of coffee/tea (and hopefully some vegan treats). We will then trace our way back to the starting point. \nThis event is for those who are fully vaccinated only.
