Call for VSDC Board Nominations & 2019 Election

**To Vote in the VSDC 2019 Election, click here for the ballot.  Voting is possible from May 5 to May 26, 2019.**

Here’s your opportunity to help lead the Veg Society of DC to even greater heights: we are announcing elections for the VSDC Board!  Elected members will serve a two-year term, starting in June 2019. To be eligible to run, you must be a VSDC member in good standing, a vegetarian or vegan, and submit a candidate statement by Wednesday, May 1, 2019 (email to election@vsdc.org). To ensure the incoming Board can work effectively in a team environment, the election committee will also verify previous volunteering and familiarity with VSDC and no conduct contrary to the principles or advancement of VSDC. The ideal candidates should offer a sincere level of time commitment to VSDC, along with any special skill, talent, or experience that can benefit a volunteer-driven non-profit.

The VSDC Board is responsible for guiding VSDC, ensuring that the organization’s resources are used efficiently, and developing specific priorities. Along with regular activities, the Board will also plan and oversee major endeavors such as the Thanksgiving gala, the management of the DC area vegan Meetup group, VSDC’s presence and impact in the DC metro area, and handle various administrative tasks for the organization. The Board is an active, “working Board” that typically meets monthly and has committees / teams that tackle various tasks on a weekly basis.

All VSDC members in good standing are asked to vote electronically starting on Sunday, May 5, with elections closing on Sunday, May 26. Please visit VSDC.org here to review the candidate statements and vote between May 5 and May 26. The newly elected board members will be announced in late May on VSDC.org and start their term on June 1. Up to five Board positions are available this election. If you require a paper ballot, please contact election@vsdc.org or call the Veg-line at 202-362-VEGY by May 5.
