The Veg Society of DC (VSDC) African American Networking Group (AANG) will host a Kwanzaa celebration and vegan potluck, celebrating the seven Kwanzaa principles: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith).
This is an in-person event held at The ONE DC Black Workers & Wellness Center, located at 2500 Martin Luther King Jr Ave. in SE DC. It is situated at the intersection of MLK & Howard Rd & Sheridan Rd SE. The building is 500 feet from the Anacostia Metro Station located on Howard Rd SE.
There is public, paid parking at the Anacostia Metro Station at the
cost of $4.50 per day. There is limited street parking available on Howard Rd SE and Bowen Rd SE.
Note: The lot located on the south side of the building is private property and cannot be used for parking.
**Items to bring to the potluck:**
– Vegan potluck dish (no animal products of any kind) to share. For food quantity, please bring 4 to 6 times the number of servings times the number in your party.
– A serving utensil for your dish
– Ingredients list or recipe for your dish
– Help reduce waste so please bring your reusable plate, cup and utensils
Note: Water and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. No alcoholic beverages will be served nor permitted at the event. VSDC will provide basic supplies.
Friendly reminder: vegans do not consume any animal products or byproducts (no meat, chicken/poultry, fish/sea animals, eggs, milk or dairy products, honey, etc).
