Please join the Veg Society of DC Book Club discussion of “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This meeting will take place online, via zoom.
Drawing on her life as an indigenous scientist, Kimmerer shows how other living beings ― asters and goldenrod, strawberries and squash, salamanders, algae, and sweetgrass ― offer us gifts and lessons.
To participate you must read at least half the book — and RSVP at least two days before the meeting. People who RSVP yes will get the details to join the discussion (the weekend before the meeting). The details will not be posted on meetup.
The VSDC Book Club began meeting online in March 2020 (previously we met in vegetarian restaurants in DC or nearby Maryland or Virginia). We read fiction and nonfiction in alternating months, about any topic.
