Please join the Veg Society of DC Book Club discussion of “Our Symphony with Animals: On Health, Empathy, and Our Shared Destinies” by Aysha Akhtar. *** We invited the author to join us for this special event, and she hopes to join us! ***
Neurologist Akhtar uses personal childhood trauma to launch a discussion of the extent of, and limits to, human empathy toward animals. (The author spoke about the book at a VSDC event at the New Deal Cafe in May 2019.)
To participate you must read at least half the book—and RSVP at least two days before the meeting.
The VSDC Book Club began meeting online in March 2020 (previously we met in vegetarian restaurants in DC or nearby Maryland or Virginia). People who RSVP yes will get the details to join the discussion (the weekend before the meeting). The details will not be posted on meetup.
