Please join the Veg Society of DC Book Club discussion of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Hope and Electricity by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer.
Kamkwamba dreamed of bringing electricity and running water to his village in Malawi. He embarked on a plan with science textbooks, scrap metal, and bicycle and tractor parts. There is a young reader’s edition (grades 4-7 according to School Library Journal) if your child also wants to read the book and join the discussion.
To participate you must read at least half the book—and RSVP at least two days before the meeting.
The VSDC Book Club began meeting online in March 2020 (previously we met in vegetarian restaurants in DC or nearby Maryland or Virginia). People who RSVP yes will get the details to join the discussion (the weekend before the meeting). The details will not be posted on meetup.
We read fiction and nonfiction in alternating months, about any topic. For more information (including everything we have read over 30 years!) visit: [https://vsdc.org/Book-Club](https://vsdc.org/Book-Club)
Or contact Beth through meet up: [http://www.meetup.com/vegan-28/message/?recipientId=1642817](http://www.meetup.com/vegan-28/message/?recipientId=1642817)
Don’t be a no show! If your plans change, update your RSVP.
