**Join us for a special playdate in celebration of International Respect for Chickens Month!**
Bring your little ones for some outdoor play, creativity, and compassionate learning. We’ll meet at the free Woodland Wonderland Playground in Walker Mill Regional Park (just outside DC) where the kids can climb, run, and explore to their hearts’ content.
After playtime, we’ll gather at a nearby picnic table to honor [International Respect for Chickens Month](https://upc-online.org/) with a book reading of “[A Home for Henny](https://www.upc-online.org/pp/fall2014/a_home_for_henny_new_edition.html)” by Karen Davis, founder of United Poultry Concerns. This sweet tale gently teaches empathy and care for animals—perfect for young hearts and minds.
🎨 We’ll also have fun chicken-themed coloring sheets and crayons for a little artistic flair.
✨ **What to bring:**
* Plenty of water to stay hydrated
* Vegan snacks or lunch to enjoy during story time
* Smiles and good vibes!
We can’t wait to see you there and share this meaningful (and playful!) time together.
While the event and the VSDC Children’s Playgroup is all-vegan, our meetup welcomes veg (or veg-curious) kids under the age of 10 to be accompanied by at least one parent or caregiver.
