NOTE: This event was originally listed as 1 pm, but the correct time is 2 pm.
Join VSDC for a one-hour walking tour of Piggins and Banks! The tour will begin with a walk up to “Bert and Zeus’ Neighborhood” and “Hulk’s Haven” where you will be able to meet and feed (but not touch) many of the rescued pigs. They will provide the pig treats! Then we will make our way back down and head over to “Mary’s Piggily Pleasant Pen for Friendly Pigs” where you can enter the pen and pet a few of the pigs that love attention. Next, we will pay a visit to “The Lucky Lot,” where the largest pigs make their home. As we pass the barn, you can see our horses (if they are not out to pasture). Finally, for the last portion of the tour, we will drive up to the north end of the sanctuary property to visit the “North Pig Pen.” We will conclude the tour at “Nicky’s Barn” where our oldest pigs spend their days in comfort.
This is an outside experience! So please come dressed and prepared for the weather. Tours are rain or shine. In the event of severe inclement weather, you will be contacted ahead of time via email or text message. You must provide this information during the registration process. Just in case we miss you, you can check here for updates.
Be ready to walk and wear proper footwear. The tour will include walking approximately 1 mile. Closed-toe shoes or boots are required to enter areas where you may interact with the pigs.
All tours are guided by a Piggins and Banks team member. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 6 years old and pregnant women are not allowed.
No food allowed. This prevents our pigs from being fed something they shouldn’t have. Treats will be provided to give to the pigs. Water or beverages are okay to bring.
**Transportation**
Carpool opportunities may be available. Please indicate in the comments section if you’d like to carpool or are willing to take a passenger. Of course, please use good sense when riding with people you don’t know and understand that VSDC cannot take responsibility for the behavior of or availability of carpool drivers.
