**This is not our usual Rooted3 dinner; instead, it is a discussion group about becoming vegan.** If you want to enjoy our monthly dinner gathering at Rooted3, [please join us in February](https://www.meetup.com/vegan-dc-md-va/events/305148392/?isFirstPublish=true). *If you are vegan or aspiring, please share this event with friends or family who might be interested.*
Have you considered reducing or eliminating animal products from your diet out of concern for the impact of animal agriculture on the climate, your health, or the animals? Would you like to explore the challenges and benefits in a friendly and nonjudgmental way?
January is a great time to make a change! We invite you to embrace [Veganuary](https://veganuary.com/en-us/) and try a vegan lifestyle for a day, a week, or all month!
Join two Veg Society of DC members who will share their paths to veganism and offer strategies and resources they found helpful on their journey. You will come away with tips on how to make simple changes to your diet.
Please join us for a vegan dinner and to explore your questions. [Check out the menu](www.rooted3.com).
This is intended to be an informal small group conversation. Depending on the level of interest, additional dates will be scheduled.
**Our Facilitators**
Jill, a lifelong omnivore, transitioned to plant-based eating around 2018 with the encouragement of her then college-age son. Jill loves to cook and was initially worried that a vegan diet would be a culinary hardship. Far from finding it to be a diet of deprivation, Jill experienced the shift to plant-based meals as a revelation and a source of deep satisfaction and great food; she is looking forward to sharing her journey of discovery and the tips she learned along the way with you.
After many years as a vegetarian, Wendy transitioned to a vegan lifestyle in 2021. She has seen dramatic improvements in her health and is delighted to honor her love of animals and concern for the planet with her diet and lifestyle choices. She completed a plant-based nutrition certificate from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. She serves as a Healthy Community Leader with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Action Network and a Board Member for the Veg Society of DC.
